Sriracha Pepper is a hybrid Jalapeno. It produces large, uniform dark green peppers that mature to a dark red color. Mature peppers are around 5″ long and 1.25″ wide with thick walls.

Sriracha Pepper is mildly hot and ranges 2,300-2,500 Scoville. It is a great choice for roasting, pickling or slicing. Huy Fong Foods makes the extremely popular Sriracha brand sauce. They use red-hybrid Jalapeno peppers for their sauce along with other ingredients. Homemade Sriracha sauces will vary in taste but the two main components that resonate with Sriracha sauces are heat and garlic.

Being sensitive to the cold, planting peppers should be delayed until the danger of frost is past in the spring. Ideal temperatures are 70-80F during the day, and 60-70F at night. Peppers set satisfactory crops when temperatures are between 65-80F and the soil is well-supplied with moisture. Avoid a soggy, water-logged soil condition when growing peppers.

Plant in full sun 18-24″ apart. Sriracha grows 18-22″ tall and 18-20″ wide.

Peppers mature in 80-95 days.

Water plants thoroughly after transplanting. Avoid planting under conditions that will stunt the plants and lead to poor production, such as cold weather, lack of sufficient soil moisture, or lack of sufficient fertilizer. Water deeply but not too often, about 1-2 times a week.

We grow Sriracha Peppers in our #4 Charley’s Veggies category (#4 round pots packed 10 per flat).
