Suyo Long Heirloom Cucumbers originate in China.  They are a burpless variety that have a dark green peel and are slightly ribbed. The fruit is sweet and crispy and can grow to 16 inches long but can be picked at any stage. Suyo Long tend to curl on one end but can be convinced to grow straighter if the vines are grown on a trellis.  Eat fresh or pickle them. Pick by turning cucumbers parallel to the vine and snapping off with a quick snap.  This prevents vine damage.

Cucumbers are a tender, warm-season vegetable that can add a crisp cool snap to your favorite salad or sandwich.

Sizes:  #4

Days To Harvest: 60 days from seed.

Spacing: Plant 24″ apart in 60″ rows.

Height: Grows 8″ to 12″ tall.

How To Grow: Plant in full sun.

Outstanding Features: Cucumbers are very easy to grow.  Pick cucumbers when fairly young to avoid bitter skin.  Although the cucumber has a higher water content than most vegetables, you can increase its nutritional value by serving the cucumber without peeling it first.

Tips: When the cucumbers mature and are ready to be picked, picking them regularly instead of leaving them on the vine will keep them producing new cucumbers longer.  Harvest cucumbers in the early morning and they will be more crisp.
