Description: If you are looking for flowering sage, then Salvia is what you want. There are many types. Salvia greggii Red has, as the name says, red flowers on tightly branched stems. Even though it’s origins are in Mexico and Texas, it is one of the most cold hardy varieties but will freeze to the ground in Zone 6 and come back in the spring. They flower from late spring to early fall and if you cut them back after they bloom, it will help keep the foliage looking neat and tidy all winter long.
Spacing: Plant 18″ to 24″ apart.
Height: Grows 24″ to 36″ tall.
How To Grow: Plant in full sun.
Outstanding Features: Attracts butterflies, bees and hummingbirds. Deer resistant.
Tips: Drought and heat tolerant with average water needs. Do not over water.
