Golden Spring Alyssum has bright yellow bloom clusters. The individual flowers are larger than other varieties. The gray-green foliage has a mounding, spreading habit making it a good specimen for ground cover. Enjoy loads of color from May to June.
Alyssum is easy to grow and maintain. It is deer and rabbit resistant, drought, heat and frost tolerant making it one tough plant. In areas with mild winters, this Mediterranean native is evergreen. Make sure that wherever you put it that the soil drains well. Alyssum is not fond of the wet and can develop root rot but other than that it is pretty disease resistant. Aphids may also be an occasional problem but mostly bugs leave it alone. If you need to divide, do so in the fall.
