Butterfly White Pentas, also called Egyptian Starfowers, have tiny, bright white flowers that develop into a large ball of color. The deep green foliage of pentas is attractive, but when you add to that the bright cluster of star shaped flowers you have a knock-out plant. Butterflies and hummingbirds find pentas a delicacy and will visit your garden often while these beauties are in bloom.
Pentas love the heat and do well in hot, humid conditions. Sunny locations are preferred, but they will still look great with part shade. Like most heat-loving plants, Pentas do not like soggy feet. Keep the soil moist and make sure that it drains well. You will not have to do much to these plants, give them a little time-release fertilizer when planted and remove spent blooms occasionally.
