Yellow Joseph’s Coat is a tropical plant that spreads quickly in the landscape. The pointed, yellow-green foliage is very eye-catching and brightens up borders and beds from the last frost in the spring to the first frost in the fall. Alternanthera, also known as Joseph’s Coat, comes in several colors but the chartreuse yellow is the most popular.
Alternanthera’s compact plants stay short and require little maintenance. For the best color, plant in full sun. Combine them with darker leaved plants for great contrast. Joseph’s Coat is a tropical plant that will thrive in the heat of summer, but is not frost or cold tolerant.
