Archive for July, 2013
So this post is probably not what you were expecting from the title. We are starting our work on scheduling spring 2014. We have seen all the new varieties that are out there but we want to know what you think.
Now is the time to let us know about the new varieties you like and also let us know about any of the existing plants that you need that we don’t currently carry.
One thing though, we have to be able to sell enough of them to justify growing so please don’t ask for something obscure that will sell 3 plants all spring.
What plants and varieties are your favorites?
Despite summer being our off season we have been busy. For the last couple of weeks we have been picking and selling Charley’s sweet corn and peas in between sticking our two shipments of poinsettia cuttings.
Doesn’t sound like a whole lot, but it is keeping us busy.
The OFA Short Course and trade show was this week. I didn’t go which was actually a nice change of pace for me. From what I hear the show was well attended and the outlook was optimistic but it was also stated that only those who made money went to the show and therefore the survey pool was skewed. I don’t know if that is true or not. It certainly had no bearing on my decision not to go. I was simply tired of doing all travelling like I’ve been doing the last few summers, and I want to get some stuff done around the house.
So far I have enjoyed not going but have not had a whole lot of luck getting anything done around the house. Maybe I can get something done next week.
Here are some pictures of the mums out in the fields, the poinsettia cuttings, sweet corn and peas.
This is our first planting of poinsettias cuttings for this year’s crop. We have another shipment of poinsettia cuttings coming in next week for our second crop.
